Every year, the memory of fallen fighters and victims of fascist violence is revived, and wreaths are laid on their monuments.
A commemoration in honour of the fallen fighters and victims of fascist violence takes place in Freedom Fighters’ Square in Izola, organized by the Association of Veterans for the Values of the National Liberation Struggle of Slovenia.
The monument to the fallen fighters and victims of fascist violence in Freedom Fighters’ Square was erected in 1946. It bears the names of seven fighters who fell in the National Liberation War, five victims of fascist violence, three who died in concentration camps, and two who fell while serving in the ranks of the Spanish Republican Army. The monument to the Fallen for Freedom was erected by the M.L.O. together with socio-political organizations on May 9, 1946.
