Andrea Dilič is a 40-year-old from Koper, half Italian on his mother’s side. However, he is probably better known to most as a street musician. You can often hear him singing and strumming his guitar under the arch by the Little Loggia or along the Semedella promenade. He studied social work in Trieste, but did not complete his studies because at that time he was swept away by a passion for music. He sang in the glam metal band Shock Rocket, which gave him stage experience, but he soon realised that this was not the path he wanted to follow. "The turning point was a trip to Florence, where I saw street musicians with suitcases full of banknotes. A few years later, my friend Jan and I were on the pier, and I came up with the idea of playing on the street. Back then, I was just singing, and he was playing the guitar. We put together a half-hour repertoire," he said. They hesitated for a while before performing again. A gentleman who had heard them gave them twenty euros as an initial encouragement. "That’s when I knew this was it, even though we were both very nervous during our first performance."
