It was in June 1994 when an unknown group with an exotic and fascinating name presented the song Gelosia on the radio. A resounding and unexpected success followed.

Dirotta su Cuba, with its unique and unmistakable sound, ushered in the most acid jazz and funk era Italy has ever had. Thirty years have passed since then and Dirotta su Cuba are still active amidst the upheavals and line-up changes. The only constant is Simona Bencini, the voice and soul of the group, who, after taking the leadership of the band into her own hands, warmed up Italy last year with numerous live shows full of energy and rhythm. After an intense summer tour, Dirotta su Cuba kicked off the autumn with four sold-out concerts at the Bravo Caffè in Bologna and at the Blue Note in Milan.

In 2024, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gelosia, Dirotta su Cuba will embark on a long tour to present its greatest hits. But the surprises will not only be on stage: a celebratory vinyl was released in April to mark this important anniversary.
