The Snežnik ensemble has been performing under this name since 1994, but its origins date back to 1982, when the Jože Jenko Trio was formed. The name was inspired by Mount Snežnik and the folk music of the Notranjska region. From the beginning, the group played at weddings, festivals, and other events, releasing five cassettes and CDs, with the most notable being Trije muzikantje (1995), Brkinska slivovka (1998), and Naj pesem odmeva (2012). Between 1996 and 2017, the ensemble performed multiple times among Slovenian expatriates in the USA and Australia, receiving numerous awards for preserving Slovenian musical heritage. They also performed at major Slovenian events, such as Slovenfest, the Števerjan festival, and in television shows like Prijatelji, ostanimo prijatelji. Over the years, the lineup changed, but today the ensemble performs in its original form: Jože Jenko (accordion, vocals), Ivan Kompan (bass guitar, vocals), and Danilo Čekada (guitar, vocals).
