A documentary about the Slovenian punk scene between 1977 and 1985: all the bands were made up of high school students who, despite their young age, quickly began performing and triggered a wave of repression by the Communist Party. While Marshal Tito was dying in Ljubljana, Slovenia saw an outburst of remarkable youth creativity from those who no longer agreed with the party’s enforced uniformity. It was the first serious countercultural blow in the former Yugoslavia, followed by the “Nazi Punk Affair,” which led to the detention of three key figures of the punk scene. While English punks gathered in pubs, Slovenian punks met in the city center at Johnny Rotten Square. They lived in dangerous times.
After the screening on 27 Jan 2026, the film crew will join a post-screening discussion. Welcome.
