8 diverse beaches in Izola
Svetilnik town beach
It is a locals' favorite and one of the most iconic beaches in Slovenian Istria. You'll find it in the very heart of the town. It boasts a beautiful view of Debeli rtič, Koper, and Mesečev zaliv (Moon bay). When the sky is clear you can see all the way to Triest and even the snow-capped Alps.
There is an open space with grass, while access to the sea is arranged with small pebbles, so it is safe and pleasant. The beach is especially loved by families with small children, who can have fun on the playground or play in the shade of the pine trees. When you get hungry, you can have a snack in the Svetilnik Restaurant or enjoy a refreshing drink in Vitaminček bar.
During the hot months of July and August, an open-air library is also available on the beach. Choose your favourite book or discover a new author.
You can easily walk to the beach along the seaside promenade from the town center or access it from the other side, past the shipyard.
Family fun in San Simon Bay
San Simon bay is known as the most family-friendly spot in Izola. A sandy bay, a volleyball court, a waterslide, and the remains of an ancient Roman villa in the nearby archaeological park make San Simon a perfect family experience. The park also has a beach library, open during opening hours in July and August.
You can also try various water sports on the beach; you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, or SUP boards. While children are busy with sea adventures, parents can enjoy a coffee or a cocktail.
Rent a SUP board and go exploring the local beaches.
Beach by the Izola promenade
Delfinček beach is located by the promenade between the town center and San Simon Bay. It is especially popular among seniors and guests of Hotel Delfin, as well as families with children. Access to the sea is safe and there is also a lifeguard on the beach.
You can spend the whole day on the beach without any worries, food and drinks are provided in the immediate vicinity.
White rocks beach (Bele skale)
Bele skale beach (white rocks) is the perfect spot to escape the summer crowds. On the way to the beach, you can enjoy the view of wild, unspoiled nature and the town from the beautiful Landscape Park.
The beach is part of the Strunjan Landscape Park, so we ask you to pay particular attention to the care of the environment. Before leaving, make sure you pick up your trash, and don't set up any bonfires or build »wild tents« and stone sculptures.
