From Izola to Trieste
Ready for a short trip across the border? From Izola, you can take organised transport for a half-day or evening trip to Trieste, and on Fridays also to Miramare Castle.
Trieste is only a short drive from Izola, yet it offers a completely different experience. Central European elegance, Italian liveliness, historic cafés, shops, bookshops and grand seaside squares make it an ideal excursion during your stay in Izola. Stroll across Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, one of the most beautiful seaside squares, explore the streets of the old town, browse the shops and bookshops, or enjoy a coffee in one of Trieste’s famous historic cafés.
No need to search for parking, worry about driving or plan the route. Simply choose your date, reserve your seat and spend the day exploring the city, enjoying coffee, shopping, food or a walk by the sea.
Half-day trip to Trieste
If you would like to visit Trieste during the day, transport from Izola to Trieste is organised on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Departure is at 9:00 from San Simon Bay and at 9:15 from the bus station in Izola. The return from Trieste is at 14:00.
The price of the return transfer on the Izola–Trieste–Izola route is EUR 26 per person. Transport is organised for a minimum of two and a maximum of eight people.
A half-day trip is an excellent choice for a morning walk through the city, a visit to the shops, coffee on a historic square or exploring Trieste at your own pace.
Evening trip to Trieste
Trieste has a special charm in the evening. When the city palaces, squares and streets light up, the city is a great choice for dinner, an aperitif, a walk or a short evening trip across the border.
Evening transport from Izola to Trieste is organised on Thursdays.
Departure from the bus station in Izola is at 17:45, and the return from Trieste is at 23:30.
The price of the return transfer is EUR 40 per person.
Trip to Miramare Castle
On Fridays, you can also travel from Izola to Miramare Castle, one of the most recognisable landmarks of the Gulf of Trieste.
The castle stands right by the sea and is surrounded by a magnificent park with views of the Gulf of Trieste. The trip is an excellent choice for anyone wishing to visit one of the most scenic spots near Trieste and add a walk among greenery, history and sea views to their day.
Departure from the bus station in Izola is at 9:30, and the return from the castle is at 15:00.
The price of the transfer is EUR 30 per person. The entrance ticket to Miramare Castle is not included in the price.
Transport reservation
Advance reservation is required and must be made at least one day before departure. Please arrive at the departure point ten minutes before the scheduled departure time. Reservations are possible for a minimum of two and a maximum of eight people.
