Days of Venetian Cuisine in Izola – taste the simplicity and authenticity Nemščina

Category

From 12 to 28 September 2025, you are invited to selected inns and restaurants in Izola, where you will be treated to dishes inspired by Venetian history.

Reviving Venetian Culinary Tradition

The Days of Venetian Cuisine, organized under the auspices of the Izola Tourist Board (Visit Izola), connect selected restaurateurs from Izola who have prepared delicious dishes inspired by Venetian tradition. The spotlight is on simple yet rich flavors that enchant food lovers with their authenticity.

On the seaside plates, you will taste the daily catch of local fishermen, typical šavor, brodetto, seafood stews, and other maritime delights. Since Venetian cuisine also includes heartier meals, you will be able to enjoy dishes such as pasta e fagioli and Venetian-style liver. To round off your meal, order a glass of local Malvasia wine.

The Days of Venetian Cuisine highlight the simplicity and purity of flavors that we often overlook in today’s fast-paced life.

Did you know?

Izola became part of the Venetian Republic in 1267 and remained under its influence for almost five centuries, until 1797. The Venetian mark is visible not only in cuisine and culture but also in architecture, most notably in the Venetian lion. This symbol also adorns the Podestà Palace, which is currently being restored.
