The Kino Otok – Isola Cinema International Film Festival is:
an exciting film programme under the stars at the Arrigoni Open-Air Cinema and Manzioli Open-Air Cinema, as well as indoors at the Art kino Odeon and Cultural Centre, a selection of short films by independent emerging authors in the relaxed atmosphere of Video on the Beach, Submarine – a programme of films and activities for children, youth and families, PRO OTOK – a programme for film professionals and everyone interested in the journey of film from idea to screen and beyond, the festival vibe in the streets of Izola and artistic expression in local galleries, a nightly music programme at Svetilnik Beach, selected festival films screened in Ljubljana, Cerknica, Idrija, Sežana and Tolmin, the first ever Zero Waste film event in Slovenia!
Programme:
Films and Guests – A carefully curated film programme where the works and their authors, the festival’s guests, do not compete, but coexist in harmony within the Kino Otok sections.
Submarine – The Submarine on the Island is a diverse film education programme for children, youth and families who love film and want to experience the magical world of moving images up close. It is aimed at the youngest generation of film audiences aged between 3 and 18, as well as their parents or guardians as an encouragement to choose quality audiovisual content for children.
Pro otok – A programme for film professionals and anyone interested in the journey of film from idea to screen and beyond. No longer limited to the festival days in Izola, it freely explores cinematic creativity throughout the year. In Ljubljana, we begin a new collaboration with the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) in May, meet in Izola in June, followed by autumn events.
And so much more – A Mediterranean, hospitable invitation to festivalgoers from all walks of life to enjoy, alongside the film screenings and film-related programmes, other cultural and artistic events in Izola.
